Ukrainian Socialist Yuliya Yurchenko to speak at Solidarity Meeting in Dublin :

Ukrainian socialist and academic, Yuliya Yurchenko, speaks at a public meeting ‘Ireland – Ukraine International Solidarity of the Left’ in Dublin on Monday November 21.

The meeting is organised by Irish Left With Ukraine, which says that the purpose of the meeting is to extend solidarity to the Ukrainian people as they continue to resist the Russian invasion of their country – and to amplify the voices of Ukrainian socialists and trade unionists.

Statement – Meeting Chairperson Nóirín Greene

“ The Russian invasion of Ukraine was an act of imperialism resisted by a people determined to preserve their self determination,” said meeting Chairperson Nóirín Greene, a former member of the Executive Committee of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions. “Within Ukraine, as with every country, there is a left and a right. And although united against the invader, Ukrainian trade unionists and socialists are also organising to oppose the neo-liberal agenda of President Zelensky, for example campaigning against anti-trade union laws. We need to listen to what these Ukrainian trade unionists and socialists are saying, and extend a hand of solidarity to their struggles. This meeting provides an opportunity to Irish trade unionists and activists to do just that.”

“I am delighted to have this opportunity to speak in Dublin.” said Yuliya Yurchenko.

“We seek maximum solidarity, moral and material, with the Resistance of the Ukrainian people against Putin’s imperialist invasion. We ask for solidarity with those in Russia who oppose the war by risking many years in prison and with those Russian soldiers who refuse to continue fighting their Ukrainian brothers.”
