The same message is promoted by irresponsible RTÉ journalists and government politicians such as Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan on news programmes and RTÉ’s Prime Time referencing “legitimate” concerns expressed by residents, contributing to a “consensus” that immigrants are the problem, and tougher deportation policies are needed.

A friend issued this 100 per cent accurate warning , and it has to be endlessly repeated :

“Citywest is now also an issue of solidarity with Ukraine. Will the left continue to ignore Ukrainian refugees, with some even hinting in the past at white privileged?

The reality is that on Thursday a line of cops stood between a far right orchestrated mob of working class men and youths and a world class pogrom at Citywest.”

The civilised left has a duty to aggressively reject this despicable agenda.

The alternative agenda is : All Refugees Welcome, No human is Illegal.

We now see a revolting spectacle unfold. “Concerned citizens” have been protesting outside CityWest for some time. – Now immigrants, mostly from Ukraine, are collectively punished for an alleged horrendous crime which was nothing to do with them. 

Matt Carthy took a lead from his party leader Mary Lou McDonald TD.
