David Versus Goliath in Palestine : “A primitive, ancient bulldozer can overcome even the most complex and expensive obstacles”
We wish to thank John Goodwillie for drawing this article to our attention.

Article by Israeli journalist Gideon Levy. , key columnist of the Israeli newspaper Haaretz and one of the strongest antiwar voices in Israel.
“Since 1948, Israel has been punishing Gaza. Yesterday Israel saw images he did not expect in his life, because of his arrogance.
Behind all that has happened, the Israeli arrogance remains unchanged. We thought we were allowed to do anything, that we would never pay a price or be punished for it. Yet we continue on going strong We arrest, kill, mistreat, rob, protect in the massacres committed by our settlers, visit Joseph’s tomb, Othniel’s tomb and Yeshua’s altar, all on Palestinian territory, and of course we visit Temple Mount -more than 5,000 Jews visited the throne. We shoot innocent people, poke their eyes out and crush their faces, deport them, seize their lands, loot them, kidnap them from their beds and carry out genocide. We also continue the unjustified siege of Gaza, and we think everything will be fine.
We are building a huge dam around the Strip, its underground structure cost three billion shekels and we think we are safe. We rely on the geniuses of Unit 8200 and Shin Bet agents who know everything and will alert us at the right time. We are transferring half the army from the Gaza envelope to the Huwara envelope just to ensure the celebrations of the settlers throne and we believe everything will go well, either in Huwara or Erez. Then it turns out that a primitive, ancient bulldozer can overcome even the most complex and expensive obstacles in the world with relative ease, when there is great motivation to do so. Look, this arrogant dam can be crossed by bikes and motorcycles, despite all the billions spent on it, and despite all the well-known experts and contractors who have made big money.
We thought we could continue dictatorial control of Gaza, dropping crumbs of favor here and there in the form of a few thousand working permits to Israel—that’s a drop in the ocean, which also always depends on correct behavior—and they go back to their “jail”. We are making peace with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates – and our hearts are forgetting the Palestinians so they disappear, as many Israelis would like. We continue to hold thousands of Palestinian prisoners, including those held without trial, most of whom are political prisoners, and disagree to discuss their release even after decades in prison. We thought we would continue to arrogantly deny any political solution effort, simply because it didn’t help us engage in it, and surely everything would continue like that forever. And once again it was proved that it was not so. Hundreds of Palestinian fighters breached the fence and invaded Israel in ways no Israeli could imagine. Several hundreds of Palestinian fighters have proven that it is impossible to imprison two million people forever, without paying a heavy price. Just like the old Palestinian bulldozer destroyed the Wall yesterday, the most advanced of all walls and fences tore our mantle of Israeli arrogance and indifference. He also took down the idea that it is enough for Israel to attack Gaza with suicide drones and sell those drones to half the world in order to maintain security.
Yesterday, Israel saw sights it had never seen before: Palestinian military vehicles patrolling its cities and cyclists from Gaza passing through its gates. These images should cut the cloak of arrogance. Palestinians in Gaza decided they are willing to pay everything for a slight taste of freedom. ’’
